New effects include Flash, Ghost Trails, Mirror, Mirror Advanced, and N-Square. New transitions include Circle Closing, Circle Opening, Radial Warp In, Warp Out, Wash In, and Wash Out. New titles include Subtitle, Subtitle Multiple, Zoom, and Zoom Multiple.
Version 2.1.1 includes unspecified updates.

Another way to add animation to your video clips is by adding transition effects that are dynamic.
Transition is the “waiting” time between frames of different clips in a scene. Or these are effects that are applied to determine how clips move from one file to the next. Transitions can be added manually or automatically with the help of different software.
Most applications have a default theme of transition that may last up to half a second.
Different types of transitions exist: fade in or out, dissolve, zoom etc.
The next sections illustrate a step by step method of handling transitions on different platforms.
Part 1: How to add transitions in iMovie on Mac

- Open the movie in iMovie.
- Import the movies and drag the files to the media browser.
- Click on the transition button menu at the top right corner of the window.
- Select the desired transition by hovering the mouse over to see the possible effect.
- Drag the transition of choice and place it between the clips you want.
- Click on the gear button and select the transition adjustments.
- A pop up will show up where you can make adjustments to your transition effect to perfection.
- Click on Done.
- Save your file.
Part 2: How to add transitions in iMovie on iPhone/iPad
- Open the clips.
- Select a slide.
- On the slide navigator tap on the clips thumbnail.
- Tap on transition.
- Then tap on to the spanner tool.
- Then tap on to transition and builds.
- An arrow will appear with the name of the transition.
- Select the transition effect you want and customize it.
- Determine the length of the transition by dragging the slider accordingly.
- Drag the arrow in the direction you want the transition to take place (in the case of a directional transition).
- After the transition is set, tap on another slide to apply the transition.
- A colored triangle will appear at the corners of the slides to indicate transition has been applied successfully.

- Click ‘Done’ at the top right corner of the screen to finish.
Part 3: How to add transitions on Windows
Windows movie maker is a versatile and easy to use video editing software that is available for any Windows installation. The latest version can be found on the Microsoft website for more functionalities.
You can enhance the appearance of your clips using windows movie maker to add transitions to ensure a smooth flow from one scene to the next. There are more than 60 transition methods available when you use movie maker.
The following easy to follow steps should guide you through the entire process.
- Launch the Windows movie maker from the programs menu.
- On the main menu click on the Tools menu.
- Select the Video Transitions menu from the drop down menu.
- Drag the selected transition and drop between the two clips that you want to create a transition from.
- You can preview a transition by hovering your mouse over a transition icon.
- Select the mode or method of transition.
- Choose the length of the transition by dragging the slider to the left to overlap the first clip.
- You can choose to add a name to the transition or leave it with the default name.
- Save your project and now you should be able to open it later and see the transition you have added.
